The Sky Room

The Sky Room, located on the 33rd floor of the Times Square Marriott, is the highest outdoor bar in New York City.  The view is excellent, and the Marriot is far away enough from the cluster of high rise hotels around 42nd Street to also offer impressive sights of Times Square itself.  In other respects, however, the Sky Room is a disappointment.  The bar feels as though it has been forced on space not suited to it.  The focal point of the top level is rather peculiarly a set of full size restrooms that separate the two outdoor areas, and the building's exhausts can be heard humming in the background.  The selection of drinks is poor, although they are at least reasonably priced (especially during the happy hour that runs Monday through Friday, 4 - 7 p.m.)
